Question for you guys who have cut out the resonator. When I researched doing this on my 840 a few years ago, I was advised not to because it would throw the 02 sensors off and cause more harm than good.

Not to highjack this thread but what does cutting out the resonator do, give a little throatier sound? Do you have to put in an X pipe or simply cut it out? Any feed back is welcome. Thanks in advance.

Love the red 4.6 btw, how many miles on it? I have some Dinan mods on mine ie CAI, Strut brace, engine and tranny software, cheers!

It keeps the sound similar to stock (a little higher pitch) but sound louder. The people who don't put in an x-pipe found it to be even louder and you'll hear more rasping/popping. X-pipe is only about $75 so I would use one.

The other alternative is to leave the resonator and remove the mufflers intead. This would be more expensive to do but I think will result in a better sound than without the resonator (deeper and louder).

Here's a clip of my X with the x-pipe. It's not the best example as the X was cold. Once the X warms up you don't get any rasping or popping and is very smooth sounding.

Welcome! Nice rides. Love to see more pics of the e46. Did you face-lift it?

with that one there maybe blacked out lights and such??? dunno. depos are definetly a good choice. i've had a set for over a year or so and they still look brand new and really updated the look of my X.

i was thinking forget red roundels, get the black ones.

no ill effects, no O2 sensor errors. i think you may have been thing of removing the cats. that would be a no no in my book for this car and definitely throw O2 related error codes as soon as you turned it on.

Welcome aboard...TwinsPoppa and tonycajjo provided some good mod options.

You're off to a good start with the 4.6iS and under-ride guard. Consider fender flares for the front. Hoen xenon-match H11's for fog lights. For performance mods, i only go with Dinan, for warranty peace-of-mind.

Looks really good.

I was under the impression that all e46's up to and including model year 2002 had the same shape/style headlights and kidney grill as the e46 M3. Yours look like the headlights from an 2003 and newer. I thought you had facelifted the headlights and everything.
