Help Identify this hose...
 

...I found what looks like an unplugged vacuum hose in my '01 3.0 l X5. It seems to originate from the lower right side bulkhead, it goes up vertically and connects to a snap on connector which is mounted on the oil dipstick, then it curves down like an upside down "J" and the end is open. The hose feels hard either by design or by age, but its hardly flexible at all. Here's a pic as best as I could manage to take. Thanks for any help.

It's correct...
 

That vacuum line remains open... there is another one just like it under the intake manifold near the first intake chamber that also remains open.
