Those who bought VREDS

Evening all,

For those that bought the VREDS on the group buy, a couple of questions.

1) What tire pressure are you running, and have you tried other PSI's?
2) What do you have for initial thoughts?
3) How many miles have you put on them and do you have any issues with them?

I did purchase them and am running 34 at each corner. I am beginning to hear a bit of noise with them, I am not sure if it is because the PSI or driving habits. I did have an alignment 2 days after and everything is back to factory spec.

One thing I did notice is every day when I leave the house it almost seems like the tires are flat spotted for the first couple hundred yards.... :dunno:

I love them so far. The only time IV heard noise is when rocks were stuck in the tread. I get a little vibration between 70 and 80 but have to take it back. Had new rear control arms and guide links installed before the alignment. Want them to check the balancing and the alignment again. I've put on about 3k miles. I'm happy so far.

I didn't buy it through group buy but a local ebay seller is close enough for me to pick the tires up my self and save on shipping.

With regards to the PSI, I use the same that's posted on the side of the wall which I can't remember right now. I've had them since October of last year and I have put on over 12,000 miles on it already and they are the quietest tires I've had. I had the Toyo Proxes ST on my first X5 and they were so loud it was like driving with my windows wide open and listening to the road noise. But the minute the Vreds were put on, I was amazed at how quiet the drive became. I was instantly satisfied with it.

Although many here are saying that it is a softer tire and may wear faster than Toyos or other brands, I don't see it. I also had problems with inner tire wear with the Toyos but I don't see it with the Vreds and I didn't do alignment when I put these on. I just balanced them and slapped them on. I don't even get vibration on higher speeds either.

You mean the tire sidewall? If so, those pressures are maximum inflation pressures, based on the tire's construction, and not recommended pressures for your vehicle. Check your door jamb. 32 psi or so should be all you need unless you are carrying four passengers and a load of luggage.

Will adjust...thanks JCL

I got 40,000+ miles out of my Toyo S/T's on my 02 4.4 sport with staggered 19 inch wheels. Call me when you get that many out of your Vred's. I also got decent wear without rotation. The insides of the rears were more worn, but even with correct alignment, that is expected. Noise with the Toyo's was bad as they aged. However, the newer S/T II design seems to have taken care of the noise issue. It would seem typical to get more life out of an all-season tire such as the S/T or S/T II than the summer Vred's. I have heard of multiple people tearing through the Vred's in less than 15,000 miles where I have never heard of any Toyo's wearing out that fast.
