E53 WHEEL LOCKS

I have been trying to get a set of locks for my wheels.
Does anyone KNOW for sure what the part number is (the dealers have given me 3 different numbers and no one has them in stock)
2006 X5 3.0 03/06 prod date...prices $42 to $90...wtf

mywidebody02 10-19-2010 05:17 PM

i bought mine from united BMW on ebay. this is the part number on the invoice. 36-13-6-776-075 $62

EDIT: ECS tunning has them for $78

Iv recently had to look up wheel locks as well and discovered that bmw provides two different kinds. One with Key's and Ones without. I have been told that the ones with keys are easily token off because there are only 5 different keys =/ and the key less ones are actually more worth it since they are more hidden. i am not sure about the parts number but the key less ones are usually 30 dollars. hope that small bit of info helps.

It seems that you have an 04 4.8, I think those are not the same as for the 06 3.0
part of my problem....

n2red 10-19-2010 07:33 PM

The BMW part number for your 2006 3.0 is 36136773192. They are 14mm shank, and take a 17mm socket.

The 2004 4.8 is 36136773192. These also have a 14mm shank, and take a 19mm socket.

Daka 10-19-2010 08:17 PM

n2red...ummm....both are same #. ? I'm confused...

mywidebody02 10-19-2010 09:05 PM

I think they are all the same size for all x5. They are the same finish as the stock bolts.

when i bought them they were listed and for the e53 all years

edit i just looked it up on real oem and it has the same part number for an 06 3.0. All the x5 use the same bolt and i'm sure its the same on a few other models.

:iagree: All X5's use the same 19mm bolt. I got my set from the dealer almost 7 years ago for around $40. I also agree with others that the OEM key sets are somewhat limited and isn't as secure as some of the aftermarket ones. I recently bought a set of McGard for my MCoupe and they are much better than the OEM set on my X5.

You can get a set on amazon for approx. $78 => Amazon.com: BMW Genuine Wheel Locks for All X5: Automotive: Reviews, Prices & more

Or you can get the McGard for approx. half price for $32.5 => Amazon.com: McGard 27205 Chrome Bolt Style Cone Seat Wheel Locks (M14 x 1.5) - Set of 4: Automotive Not sure why a black set isn't available for the X5, which it is usually available.

I DID check again. RealOEM lists it's locks for a 2006 E53 3.0i..(the ones with the key) as having a 14mm X1 with a 17mm head.

They also list the same keyed locks for the 4.8 as having a 14mm X1 with a 19mm head....... hence the different part numbers.

Yes, both will fit on the X5, but my point was, if he OP uses a 17mm lug wrench to remove the other four lugs, getting the wrong set of locks might complicate things a bit.

The point is that the i don't think the OP wants the lugs with the key u keep describing. those are the ones they only made 5 different keys for. the ones i gave the part number for is 1 size fits all.

I've ordered a set from socalmotorsports, hopefully they will be the correct ones...
if not, I'll try again to get them from the BMW dealer

Daka 10-22-2010 05:09 PM

Wheel locks received today from Socal...36 13 6 773 191 these are the wrong ones...they have what appears to need a 19mm hex...the o/e lugs are 17mm ?
So, what is the correct part number
Doesn't anyone get this right? This is why I hate to order parts

bjechols 10-22-2010 05:36 PM

I have some...just bought them last week. Paid $49 shipped and they work great. I'll post the part number and website to buy them from when I get home. They even come with BMW caps to match the other lugs. The company I bought from were great to deal with as well, fast shipment. I'll post soon, b

bjechols 10-22-2010 06:20 PM

Alright, these are 36 13 6 773 191 and I have an 04 3.0 x5. Picked them up from dealerfit.com for $49 shipped. Hope that helps, b

Op just stated those are the ones he ordered and are not the correct ones.

Daka 10-23-2010 01:41 PM

Unless someone has switched the boxes these 191's have a 19 mm" key"...
The bolts themselves are fine but I really dont want to have to carry a 19 mm lug wrench just for these lugs, as the regular lugs are 17 mm (or did the previous owner switch the lug nuts from 19mm to 17 mm....not likely...but then again ????
There does not seen to be a site that has the lug nut (key) size listed...
Something as "simple" as changing to locking lugs become a HUGE PIA.
What started all this is that there have been quite a few reports of wheels being stolen.

dkl 10-23-2010 02:06 PM

All X5s use 19mm bolts...so what you got appears to be the correct fitment for the X5. Not sure why yours are fitted with 17mm to begin with.

Daka 10-23-2010 03:50 PM

ABSOLUTELY, FOR SURE, POSITIVELY .... ALL 06 SPORT/PREM X5's....use 19 mm hex lug nuts ????
So that means that for some obscure reason the P/O (leasee) of my car changed 20 lug nuts to 17 mm....HARDLY LIKELY......someone is seriously mistaken
ps, I just went out and tried, 17 mm socket on wheel lugs..."check"
19 mm socket on KEYS of 36 13 6 773 191 "check"
It ain't me who is mistaken.......
Sorry guys....I havent the foggiest notion what's screwed up here...
