How do you change the rear tail light bulbs
 
Hello guys,

I have a 2004 X5 4.4. My rear tail light bulb has burnt out. Now I have absoultely no clue how to change it. Its the lowest of the bulbs and the speaker unit is in the way. Please help on how to change it

There r 3 bulbs there. Top is turn middle I think is brake and bottom is I think parking light. U should be able to get your hand in there and twist the socket then it will come out and the bulb is in the socket.

There is an access panel on each side at the back above the rear tires. Remove the access panel on both sides and then turn you lights on so they illuminate, you can pretty much tell which one is burned out because the one on the side that is working will tell you which socket it is. Reach your hands in on the burned out side and twist about a quarter turn (counter clockwise I think) and then it will pop out. The you can remove the burned out bulb. Put the new one in the sokcket and make sure it lights up before putting everything back together. Hope this helps.

Thnaks guys the only issue I am having is getting my hand down in there to twist the socket out

Try using a long needle nose pliers and grip it and turn it.

It's definitely a tight fit even for thin fingers. Maybe find a lovely woman to do it for you? ;)
