BMW Trunk Latch - SHIMS -----
My stash of parts came in...just misc odds/ends to replace/refresh any worn part on the X..
I ordered the updated trunk stoppers. As well, based on various threads, it suggested that the new trunk latch/mod was that BMW added some shims...I called and they advised the computer told said a QTY of 5. So part #37 is what I got which is a bag of 5 Fender Washers....ha, they must be SPECIAL German Fender Washers... GRRR...in my haste to swap out the trunk struts, after putting one on, I realized I ordered new rubbers mounts as well. Oh well, here comes the fun art of now removing the clip and getting it back on the trunk strut. http://realoem.com/bmw/diagrams/d/q/314.png |
Paging Weasel -
Just looking at the latch and stuff... Does anyone have a clue where these fancy Germen Fender Washers Go. I have a total of 5 of these Washers.. |
BTW. after swapping for new trunk struts, new robber stoppes on both the hatch and body gotta give it a good SLAM for it to shut flush. If not, top hatch sits about a mm too much. I never did have any noise in the rear...just a very faint creak that golden ears.

If the hatch has to be slammed you probably just gotta adjust in the stoppers in just a bit. As for the washers, I have never seen anyone have to adjust the latch with spacers for anything so I don't know where they are putting them...

I'll get around to adjusting them. I figured I'd let the springs on the new stoppers get some weight. I was beyond irked...
Between the universal joint and 30mm socket that was so heavy when I wanted the socket to stay up and it would just graviate down....for the trunk stoppers. An it took 30 minutes to change a @#$$)* brake bulk in the tail lamp due to my custom stereo system. I ran out of patience today. |
