Window Regulator replacement
I'm reading the the DIY window regulator replacement on this site and I'm stuck. After you get the door panel off and the foam off, the window is suppose to be about 6 inches from the bottom so the window regulator can be detached from the window. The window was all the way down and can't be rolled up with the switch. It rolls up about a mm before it gets stuck. Any advice? Thanks!

Okay guys, I did some research on this site and a member advised to cut the wire on the regulator so the window can move freely on the tracks. Can anyone confirm that this will work? Thanks

Can you move the window manually? I just did one a couple of weeks ago and if I remember right, I just pushed it up manually to where I could get to the bolts. This was a rear window, so not sure if the fronts are different.

It may be that the plastic guide(s) have jammed and will prevent you from moving the window easily. Is the window all the way down? I'd try to use the window up botton while helping the window stay straight with your hands. This will allow you to raise the window enough to access the bolts. If you connect the Air bag, reconnect the battery, then turn the key to position 2, then raise the window. You might need a helper to do this.
If the window motor won't raise the window at all, cutting the cable is another option. That should allow the window to move up and down manually. |
Thanks for the help guys. I ended up just cutting the wire and it worked perfect for me. I tried helping the window with my hands but it just wouldn't budge. Finally got the part in today and replaced it. My first time replacing the regulator took me a total of about 3 hours and spent $70 bucks.
