Telephone button light
 

I'm a new X5 owner (2005 4.4), replacing a 2004 X3. Also have a 2002 530i. Both X5 and 530i have a TEL button with three lights on the button. The red light on the X5 button is constantly on. The 530i button's lights are off. I don't have a telephone in the car. How can I turn the light off?

New x5 owner here too. I have the factory nav system and my red telephone light is on too and I don't have the phone activted...

The reason the light is red is because you DON'T have a phone activated. And when you do have a phone activated and in the car, it may turn red if you are in an area without cell coverage.

it also could be because your TCU is bad....like mine is. The red light should go out after a minute or so.
