What does this "euro" lighting piece do exactly? I have adaptive headlighting...

It can activate the rear foglights.

as in the U.S. "reverse lights" ? or do the Euro models have extra lighting in the rear?

As I understand it, even US X5s are prewired for rear fogs. They are not the reverse lights.

nice! does anyone have pictures of this wiring...or fog lights already installed? are the fog lights a BMW OEM product? if so...product number? :D

you will need the trailer tow module. I have done this to my X5 and love it (perfect for those foggy days here in Atlantic Canada)!

absolutly false, the lamp module supples power directly for the rear fog lamps, you must add the 2 wires from the lamp module to the rear fog lamp connectors.

it does make it easier to wire if you do have a trailer tow module.

description on that ebay link says: This is the switch that allows for automatic lighting (detects darkness). Copied from there - also the size :D. So I would believe it switches on the light when it starts go become dark.
