I am very impressed with the result. The seller was really nice too, talked to him on the phone. He is a fellow X5 owner (2001 if i remember correctly) and i pointed him towards this forum!

I know they may not be as bright as the angelibrights, but for $50 you really cant lose!

Those look really good. Nice mod!

How hard was it to install? How much time did you spend?

Takes about 15 minutes, I got the same two weeks ago. EFX was very good and quick and I love that they look like they belong there.

Install was a joke. Took me no more than 20 minutes. The hardest part was moving the power steering and coolant tanks on the drivers side so I could reach into the light housing. That was very easy, let's just say I did this in my parking lot at school with the small tool set that comes with our X!

I am ordering a set (do I need to order 2 sets?) and will post some photos of the DIY.

What do you think the reds would look like? I think it might be kinda sick!

Would be an automatic "pull me over." Most, if not all, States have a law where you can not have red lights on the front of a car, except official emergency vehicles.

Just need one set. Comes with two bulbs, one needed for each side.

MosH 11-16-2010 01:32 PM

Do these impact the factory Xenons at all? I have these and would like to add angel eyes, is it just a simple replacement of the housing somehow? I don't get it :)

TheGodfather 11-16-2010 02:08 PM

Nice, I really like the white.

However, I decided to go with the blue EFX bulbs last year because I wanted the halos to standout more in the daytime. The blue looks especially nice at dusk and on cloudy days.
I imagine the white EFX bulbs do not show up very well in sunlight.

ps. I got my first tint ticket last week, and upon receiving the ticket I was told that my headlights were illegal (blue, and non-orange indicators), the officer said that "I have a nice car" but I need to "get it fixed." He did not ticket me for the headlights, but I have been warned.

Maybe I should consider getting the white, so I draw less attention.

For anyone considering getting EFX bulbs, they are of good quality, mine are still holding strong 1 year later. $50 is a steal, when you see the impact these bulbs have.

If you have a 2004+ e53 you can just change the bulb. If your X5 is pre 2004, then you either need to open the headlights, or buy a new housing

TheGodfather 11-16-2010 02:10 PM

Naz, get some LED side indicators. That will really tie up the look.

Well I got mine at Canadian Tire. But I am sure they can be found at all the usual BMW parts websites, like EAS etc.

My only problem with them, is they flash quickly as if the bulb was dead, the LED's do not draw enough power.

1 last question, do the AE's have one single lamp per side that is split and illuminates the high and low beam AE's? :dunno: Any help would be appreciated, I have tried contacting them and have had no response.

Thanks,

Mike

Those looks awesome! :jealous:

My j.levi angel eyes quit working a year ago. I'm assuming my cold weather ballasts died. I tried contacting j.levi to get a new set of ballasts, but I never heard back from them. :saad: :loser2:

Yeah its one bulb powering the Larger diameter Angel eyes as well as the smaller diameter one per side. New Bmw Angel eyes are crazy bright compared to ours even with stock amber angel eyes. I think its cause they changed the design... kinda jealous :dunno: but i got White Angel Eyes too!

mywidebody02 11-17-2010 02:08 PM

Hey naz did you use the harness that came with them. I didn't, the factory harness fit.

I installed mine a couple months ago, payed the same price for it, bought two sets of "white" because I taught it was needed, so now I have an extra set.

Ballasts are ballasts, you can use these as long as the plug is the same.

LOT 2 HALO ANGEL EYES RINGS 12V CCFL INVERTER BALLAST - eBay (item 300487879946 end time Nov-30-10 12:11:45 PST)

I had a mild scare a few days ago when I washed the engine bay and then I saw that my angel eyes either weren't on or only partially lit for the first inch or so. I let the engine run, low and highbeams on in order to produce lots of engine heat and finished washing the outside. Within 20 minutes all was OK  It sucked not seeing them on for that short of time, I still love how unique and bright they look when the ignition is on.

All you need to do is put a resistor in line in the bulb's pigtail. You just need to figure out what Ohm resistor. The check system thinks the bulb has burnt out, as it doesn't draw enough power.

Ha, that's funny.. 15 seconds of searching and I found a kit someone makes for you.. $10. It's even cheaper if you do it yourself(and probably better looking).

I installed mine less than a year ago, and one started flickering recently. I am in Texas, and it hasn't gotten cold yet. They were fine last winter. I was going to buy a new set. So I may just need to put that size resistor in line? That would be good news. I was afraid I would have to start spending $50 a year for these. Here is a picture of mine before and after at the same time.

Mine have been pretty resilient through getting wet last week and it being in the low 20's at night while down here in Reno. The X almost looks naked now without them since I've gotten so used to seeing them on it and most other BMW's.

This thread is getting spread between those with and without factory installed angel eyes. Your lucky enough to only have to change the bulb, so maybe you should change the thread to replacement bulb instead of just angel eye. I've done it about 5x now on different X's, but it's definately not a 10 minute job on the prefacelifted X's :D I trim the the tabs off the rings, clear silicone them in place and the wire and fuse them inside the ECU box.

X5James 11-22-2010 01:58 PM

I'm James and I work at Euro Effects and I'm glad that you all seem to like our Angel Eye replacement bulbs.

I happen to have a 2001 X5 and I would like to thank Naz24 for pointing me to this forum. I will not be posting here much on a business-level because I don't want to be spammy or anything like that.

But, I'm sure I'll be on here for personal matters with respect to my X5. It seems like a great forum.

Thanks,
James

No offense but I would NOT recommend loosening/moving the headlights. Its unnecesary.

The access door is on top unlike the access door for the xenon bulbs. On the driver side just remove the 3 bolts holding the power steering and move it out of the way for easier access.

IF you do loosen/move the headlight, make sure to mark it with tape first - that way when you place it back you won't have to re-aim your headlights.
