4.4 DSC throttle limiting
Hi guys, I have 2001 4.4l auto.
Is there any way to stop the throttle limiting? I have tried pressing the DSC button once and also holding it down until the light on the dash goes off all together, but it still cuts the throttle when it loses traction. I know the X5 isn't a go anywhere 4wd but surely I should be able to leave the bitumen without getting stuck in the first bit of sand? Any help would be great. Thanks Joel |
Not really a way to fully turn off DSC, but it does alter what it does. With it on it doesn't really like any wheel spin, but when you push the button it allows like 15mph of difference in wheel spin. And it isn't so much of throttle cut you're feeling but brake intervention on the wheels that are spinning to transfer power to the other wheels.
Best bet for driving on the sand is to lower the tire pressures a little bit and drive slow, but use manual shifting to keep in a lower gear in case you need RPMs quick. |
:iagree:
And holding down the button doesn't do anything. It is either DSC mode, which includes DTC (no light), or DSC off mode, but still with DTC, with different intervention thresholds (light on). |
Thanks guys,
Is DTC Traction control? I'll see how she goes... |
DSC = Dynamic Stability Control (and this includes DTC)
DTC = Dynamic Traction Control (with higher thresholds for intervention than when DSC is on |
