HowTo replace that device
1 Attachment(s)
Hello ladies and gentlemen,
yeah - as you see in my first line I really need you and your know-how for a problem I have right now. Wanted to change to leather sport seats in my X5 I got some with seat heating - good luck. But I did not have the switches to power them on. Since I now have my cool sport seats - beloved wife says that they are really cool - but from the temperature - I bought something to power them on. Please have a look at the attached picture. BUT: How can I replace the existing device with the one I have now? And: will I be able to operate my seat heating? Really hope so since I am living in the middle of the Alps. Tried to remove the existing but was afraid to break something. Would reall be happy to get a solution for that, also tried to use the search function but I was not really successful. Thanks guys, H |
take a small plastic trim tool and pry this away from where it sits. its very simple, just held in by spring clips. plug and play and your x should be wired already for the seats so your good to go. you can even use a thin flat headed screwdriver.

Hey jst2878,
thanks a lot for your advise !! Change is done. All works, GREAT !!! Best Regards, Helmuth |
I didn't bother with the trim tool, just opened the ashtray cover and wedged my finger in between the cover and the trim surround, and pulled the old switch bezel out.

Yeah tried that too - but there was something between that switch thing and the ashtraycover which did not let me ... maybe you post a pic of your finger :-)
Take care, H |
