Question

I have the same problem. So all I have to do is mount my driver's seat, connect it, mount the relay and change what central switch? How can I make the heat work for the seats? You really don't have to code the zke III? You don't have to do some wiring? I am sorry in advance for all this question's but I really want to enjoy my new electric seats

Thank you,

I did the same on my 2002 X5 (originally) with cloth, manual seats. Physically installing the seats is easy, as is the eletrical connector (same for all types of seats). You need to install the bridge wire (I did this for 2 months) or the black relay (I posted the number a few months ago, as I found one and installed this). NO recoding needed for an E53. You will need the switch module (near your shifter) to simply activate the heated aspect of the seats. It's a rather easy thing to retrofit.

Interesting read!

Thankfully I already have that feature on my truck, but it was interesting to see the retrofit process and how things are not always plug and play on our vehicles.

It seemed easy after reading the thread but by gawd I'd be pissed to holy hell after installing all that, plugging it in, and finding out one side doesnt work! Especially since intermitent or partial problems like that are particularly hard to trace. Thankfull that you guys pull stuff like this off and share it to everyone :)

I am still looking at the picture you posted and the wire seems to not to connect two pin's of the relay slot. Do you have a part number for the relay? I also remember, if this is corectly, that it was a black relay.Any black relay from the car work's?

The relay is a special one.
It is called "Stromabschaltung" and the number is: 61.35-8 365 960
