The website now states "manufactured by Federal" and notes that the tires now have DOT certification. Also, the Federal website is using the same text as the Atturo website, discussing the SRG tread pattern.

And from your link, the Federal tire is $173 vs $220 for the Atturo (315/35 20). So the Atturo tire seems to be competing at a price point slightly higher, albeit with what appears to be the same tire.

One of the differences may remain the tire warranty. Federal has a registration and warranty program. Atturo has not announced any new dealers in North America since last year, and notes that warranty is only valid at authorized dealers. They appear to continue to be drop shipping container loads into North America. Certainly local tire stores could put their own warranty on them, might explain the markup.

Good observations and analysis.

thanks for the kind words, and yes i am still very satisfied with my decision to go with these tyres, i will add though that i bought these originally for 19 inch rims, i later upgraded to 20,s and was concerned with ride quality and noise.

my experience to date is that these tyres to me seemed nosier in the 19,s than in the 20,s

of course the 20,s do have a firmer ride, especially as my X also has sport suspension

the other concern i had was increasing the steering effort going to wider front tyres, and in my case that has not been my experience. in fact if anything it seems slightly lighter

from my personal experience, tyres aside, going to 20 inch rims was a great move in its self.

we do pay a premium for tyres here in Australia and if i had any doubts about the safety of these tyres i wouldnt hesitate for a second to have them replaced with a recognised name brand

and while i would prefer NOT to recomend any product, and believe each should make his own decisions, for me these tyres seem to work well.

oh i have also been keeping a close eye on inner tyre wear on the back and have to say that i dont have any issues in this area either

So...should I go or not with Atturo's?

bigwave2255 02-14-2012 01:29 AM

ive been happy with them now for 12 months, in that time ive done 30,000+ Km mainly freeway driving.

they wear well balance well are great in the dry and at the ragged edge progressively let go in the wet.

and are cost effective

if there is a down side i find them a little noisy, but comparable to the michelins that were on the car when i got it, about the same.

i would buy them again when these wear out.

but dont listen to me google them and see what others say
there are a few site now talking about them

i got them also on my x5,for about 10/months now, and i like them, and they still look like new.

Nice reviews guys, thank's. Buying tomorrow.

bosanci28 02-15-2012 07:59 PM

paid 145$ each with install.

Christiano 03-11-2012 08:37 PM

Purchased, waiting delivery.
Here in Brazil they has very competitive price, with a cost of one Michelin could buy 3 Atturos. I'm tired of pay for "security" that I'll never use, why not to try this? Well, let's wait to see...

Christiano 03-27-2012 08:14 PM

Yes, they arrive! Now it's time to repair and paint all wheels before install then. They are beautiful, huge and well done. Could be a good economy option. Let's try. Here's come pics:
