I'll edit the list as owner information is submitted! Having a registry thread will keep the owners in touch and together we can share specific questions/problems/solutions with the supercharger system. Hope to hear from some of you guys, for additions, changes, corrections, or even if it's a simple hi!

Here's a few threads with related info.

Dinan/Vortech "S-Trim" and "Si-Trim" impeller blade upgrade information
Boost/Leak pressure test
Dinan S/C: vacuum hose routing block diagrams

If anyone ever needs the entire S/C install manual, I have it on .pdf and would be happy to e-mail it to you. The file is too large to attach here.

Attached is the DigiKey data sheet for YAGEO resistors. This is the 0.6mm leg, 1/4watt, 1% tolerance resistor that Dinan uses in the R4 position of their Turbonetics T9 box. After my Si-Trim impeller swap, I read 4.39v with the previously installed 221 ohm resistor in the R4 socket (Dinan install step 234). I changed to a 205 ohm resistor (next resistor size down in the Dinan D443-0932 resistor kit) and read 4.67v. I then reverted back to the 221ohm resistor. Math say that 213ohm resistor would get me really close to the Dinan recommended 4.50vdc-4.55vdc.

As you can see in the attached .pdf there isn't a 213 ohm resistor. I ordered five 210 ohm resistors (part: 210XBK-ND) and five 215 ohm resistors (part: 215XBK-ND) from www.DigiKey.com (for $3.50 shipped) and that should get me close enough in the 4.50vdc-4.55vdc range.

Is it worth it

I have a 2002 X5 4.6. Early on I had all Dinan mods installed other than supercharger taking it to 369HP. Just rolled over 90,000 miles.

I am debating whether to keep the X5 until next fall. If I do so I want to add a supercharger. Question is---do you think it would be worth the expense and increased risk over what I already have?

Is there anywhere to find 0-60 and quarter mile performance of a supercharged 4.6?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Hi BC, SeattleYates logged a gtech 0-60 time of 5.2s, details can be found here: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...-s3-wow-5.html

There aren't any recorded 1/4 mile times that I've heard of, so I'm going to bench race for a minute. Bear with me... feel free to correct if I'm off...

~4824 curb weight (spare tire, tool kit, everything)
~149.15lbs of curb weight is fuel (24.56 gallons of fuel @ ~6.073lbs/gal)
(Let's say we race when the reserve capacity is full, in other words, when the gas light comes on: ~2.5gal@~6.073lbs/gal is ~15.18lbs of fuel)
Subtract the difference in fuel weight (-~133.97lbs) and we're at ~4690.03lbs
Driver weight for this instance is ~190lbs
Race weight is ~4880.03lbs
(Peak) Power is ~451bhp

I would bet a few dollars that the time would be very near 13.5-13.6 @ 106-108 mph Maybe a tenth or two faster, given the Si-Trim impeller blade, more area under the power curve. That coupled with the performancegearing 4.44 front and rear differential gearsets would have us knocking on the 12-second door.

As far as expense justification, that depends on finances, which are none of my business. :)

disturbedk24, just wanted to clarify, is 01blacks4 your old username, or did you buy the Dinan X5-S3 from him/her? Good to hear that another found this thread!

I have to give you guys credit for putting a SC on an X5, they are just too fragile in my mind with all the other stuff that seems to break on them. I'll be putting a SC on my C5 Corvette soon, don't think I would ever think about putting one on my X5.
