Cup holder inserts
Seems that the cup holder inserts have been pushed in so far they are now under the console.
This happen to anyone? Do I need to remove the console? |
When I bought my car, they were gone. My dealership promised to replace but They never did. I guess it wasn't a big deal to me since I never drink in my car.
I would assume u need a new console. I currently use an insert that cover the cupholders completely. Love it. |
You meant the insert taps? if so you can buy those on ebay or at ECStuning.com for the replacement .

Mine are broken as well. mrbmwx5 is correct. You can buy just the tabs and put them in. I dont believe you need to remove the console. They are pressed in. I have chosen to leave mine out because on my other x5 which has them, cups generally seem to bind up and get caught in them. For example, starbucks coffee cups get stuck in them. Cups dont tip over with out them either.

The dealer sells the replacement inserts. They cost about $25.00 for the whole set.
They just pop in where the old ones fell out. I still have some left over in case others fall in the abyss. |
Buy the tabs from the dealer and just snap them in. You only have to remove the console if you want to get the old broken ones out that fell into the abyss.

Prior to the tabs being available separately, the entire cup holder assembly would need to be replaced just for these broken tabs. In that case, the center console would have to be removed to get to the cup holder. I had this done once under warranty. The second time around, they (BMW) invented the replaceable tabs :)

Keep inserting tabs until the console is full... the tabs will then hold in place, since there will be no more room for them to fall into...
