help!! spacers on e53
 

hi all
i have put a set of rear spacers on the x5, they are eibach pro 1 inch spacer...which you bolt your orginal bolts on the spacer to the hub, then use the supplied nuts to tie the wheels on the spacer.
just wondering if this is safe?? once i put the spacers on the hub, the orginal bolts sticks out about 1-2mm....so the wheels and the spacers has gap ...not flat to flat surface....i have driven couple thousands kms until now...re torque once....just wondering if thats safe..or should i take them out?

Hmm .. I don't have the eibach spacers so not sure but I would have someone check them out or call eibach. I wouldn't think there's supposed to be any gap.

It almost sounds like what you're describing is like using incorrect sized hub rings that are keeping the wheels from seating flush with the spacer. At least, if I'm understanding you correctly. Are you using hub rings?

Wait a sec. Are you saying the HEAD of the original bolts stick past the spacer 1-2mm - therefore keeping the wheel from seating on the spacer flush? Then in that case I would say that's a problem. The bolts you use to mount the spacer should not stick out past the spacer.

yes the bolts stcik past the spacer 1-2mm....so they are not flush with the wheel..
should i take them out?

Yes. The wheel should mount flush to the spacer. If the bolt heads on your bolts are sticking out you'll need to get ones with shorter heads.

You are supposed to use the supplied bolts to mount the spacers to the hub.

Use your original bolts to mount the wheel to the spacers.

DO NOT drive around until you fix it.

I don't know how the eibach's work but my H&Rs have the wheel studs mounted on the spacer already.

They do come in the version you're speaking about but not sure if there's more than one version for the eibachs.

yes, the ebiach that i bought, the studs are mounted on the spacers already, so i have to put the orginal bolts to mount the spacers on hub...
when i re torque the nuts...they seem tight enough....but not too sure if thats still safe or not..

Bottom line is no matter what bolts you use they need to be below the spacer to allow flush mounting of your wheels.

I guess I didn't realize that there were studs already on the spacer.

I have 30mm H&R spacers and they supplied me with bolts with short heads, which leave some clearance. I would contact Tire Rack or wherever you got the spacers from for some bolts with shorter heads.
