3.0i Drivers w/ Dinan Software
 

I recently went to Bay Diagnostic in Brooklyn to install Dinan engine and trans software and the technitian told me that I cannot used AFE CAI with the software because it won't support it or benefit from it. I asked what to use and his reply was the K&N performance filter with the OE air box. I still went ahead and had them install the software. Have any of you running Dinan engine and trans software on your 3.0i heard of this before??

I have a Z3 w/ a 2.5 with the Dinan Stage 2 software plus a AFE Pro Dry S CIA. There is no issue...I think the tech was interested in you buying K&N from him...I would not worry about it.

Yeah, I would have to agree with Z3inSC. They just want more money from you, and the afe CAI has better performance gains than a k&n filter.

the pro dry or oiled cotton? which is better ? i would think the dry one with no oils?

I made the choice for the Pro Dry S for less maintenance and less concern of the possiblity of over oiling the filter then having some oil get on the MAF. I've read and talked to a couple of folks that the BMW MAF is very sensative and if the oil gets on the sensor it's pretty much so toast.

:iagree: And that's why I went ahead with the software upgrade and I'm happy with the outcome. X picks up and shifts through gears more smoothly and sporty. I have an oiled AFE and have not had any issues with the MAF, but once it's time for a cleaning, I will just replace with the dry and clean the MAF while at it.

Congrats ... Now get the x pipe with 4.6/4.8is mufflers and turner HP
Pulleys kit plus bavauto high performance coils ...you will be very happy .

Got the X-pipe, got the Turner HP pulleys, got flo-master mufflers, replace all coils (not bavauto though)... and then after I drove the bitch I got :D.

It does not turn it into a "monster 4.6/4.8" but it does make a HUGE difference.
