OK - one thing I do need, tho it is very minor are the two interior lights in the hatch - the entire assemblies. if those survived intact. Also - how many miles on it? Maybe some of the suspension may be worth picking up as spares or even the steering rack....

Sorry to be a vulture, glad to hear you're all right. Be glad you were in the tank. I got T-Boned in my Firebird and it damn near killed my passenger (technically it did, but paramedics resuscitated him)

i will probably need (if you can pull it out for me), the power steering hose, and the socket that connects to the rear brake pad sensor..(you can just cut it right out, its the socket that connects to the pad sensor, which has a wire come out from the car)

This is crazy! The guy tells us about almost dying in a car accident and all we want to do is piece apart his car lol. Next time I'm extricating someone from a bad wreck, I'll try to save as many interior parts as I can lol.

If he is keeping it he gets less money from insurance on the payoff (usually the auction value for that model totaled)... so the more people show interest in more parts the more likely he is to be able to come out a little more ahead. I think the grab for parts is helping him feel better about his decision to scrap it himself. :thumbup:

Honestly I can start parting the car put Jan 1st because that's when I get my shop.
I'm gonna keep everyone on here posted about the X,like I said folks I'm just waiting on my insurance so when I get the car back the parting out will begin!
I'm getting myself a little X-mas present for myself and getting a low miles 2006 titanium silver 4.8is,its not estoril unfortunately but it's the only creampuff car I can find locally.
Again thanks to the people that care about my well being and such,you know who you are!
I'll post pix of the new X the day I get it and I will post pix of the old x when I get it back from the body shop.

sorry to hear about the accident, but on the bright side atleast your movin up to a 4.8. When the time comes I'll be grabbin one of those too.
Anyways, I'm definitely interested in the exhaust tips and the front and rear spoilers.

Glad your ok man. I have been in 2 accidents because of dirt bags that dont pay attention. Walked away without a scratch. Thats all that counts. Cars were totalled.

Sorry to hear your loss- I'm sure it's difficult after you have done a lot of work yourself to it.. I'm sure you will feel better about it after you get your 4.8is though....

I recently bought a set of new HVAC (I think that's what they are called) buttons- for temp up, temp down, etc... It was about $100 for a set and all I needed was a new drivers temp up button. Well I got a little greedy and swapped out all of them and I managed to accidentally break the old AND new button for Auto/interior/exterior air circulation...If you have this little button and it's not broken...Can I buy it? You would be my hero. I don't want to spend $100 again on a new set over one button. Also, if you have a compass mirror I would be interested in buying that from you too. I believe they are plug and play swappable....

I'm getting the 4.8is tomorrow!

Is it possible to swap your IS motor in place of my 4.4? How many miles on your x when it died?

Any info by anyone else to let me know if his motor could plug and play in my chassis.

Are you planning on replacing your wheels? I would love to upgrade mine. I only have 17"s

the answer is yes. however, be advised that you will need much more than the just the motor. all the electronic goodies that make that alpina built motor roar will also be needed. most likely this undertaking would prove to be a financial bust. it would be easier to just buy the real car. hope that helps.

She's a beauty. I originally tried to get a silver 4.8 but it didn't pan out. Are those chrome 168s I see?

Day and night difference and 4.8is has more torque on demand IMHO,
also more beefy sounding as well compared to a 4.6is.

I'm still new to this whole X5 thing — are the arches (not just the arch lips) on the 4.8 wider? That looks beefy!

4.6/4.8 have the same wheel arch FLARES in the rear (arch lip in your words). Other models (most) dont have flares.

On the front all the stock X5 wheel arches (most) are the same (NO flares).

As far as the body, all the X5 models are the same - meaning the fenders and quarters are shared too (within their respective years).

So, no larger arches for the 4.6/4.8 vs other models - just rear FLARES added (not counting the front & rear spoilers).

Ah, must be the light then, as those arches (fenders as you boys call 'em) look really pumped up.
