are the two ledges of the liftgate supposed to rest on those two bump stops when closed? i can sort of see in between the panels when it was closed, and there was a good 1/4"+ of room between the bump stop and the ledges on the liftgate. i tweaked both sides so now the liftgate does rest on them, but the sides are a little bit off so the passenger side is out a bit more. Thanks!

Yes they are. There is supposed to be some presure when closing the gate. I adjusted mine in the summer and now that it is cold out, the rattles came back with a vengance. I will make time tonight to fix them; Merry Christmas Honey, your car is now rattle free :D. I will also take a look at the centre latch, thank you very much for that bit of information. Will changing the rubber seals around the door help enough to justify the cost? I condition them with zymol seal conditioner, is that enough? |

I can confirm that following a cold winter and a few more months driving I still have absolutely zero rattles from my tailgate having replaced the little striker plate as I detailed before.
Hope this helps some more people as there are now another few on the UK forum who have found the little plastic cap missing... Jay |
