Ticking noise from passenger side ???
Ok...! i know we have had severe bad weather !! but i have noticed that i am experiencing a ticking noise from the passenger side of my car.....The loudness varies from faint to medium loud...etc.
I stepped out of the car and detected the sound was coming from the front passenger wheel arch.... and also the rear wheel arch .... the ticking / come knocking noise continues for about 10-15 minutes.... if the car is immediately turned off and then on i have found that the noise stops Any ideas fellas ? |
Probably the Webasto heater ? There is a small exhaust comes out under the passenger footwell . Check if any noise from there .
It is used to assist in warming the car in cold weather . Though it can be reconfigured to pre-heat and defrost the car in cold weather. Check these out . xdrivers.co.uk • View topic - Got my webasto to work, hot air!! xdrivers.co.uk • View topic - Parking heater remote start- Enabling |
Isn't that heater only in the diesel?
|
Not sure . You are probably right - I somehow assumed it was a diesel as the OP lives in London.
Again that's an assumption as there are approx 4 Londons in the States and one in Canada ! |
CV joint/axle...could be several components. Have you considered a diagnosis by a qualified indy or the dealer?

I'm not suggesting he replace the Webasto - mine makes a ticking noise from expansion and contraction , also the exhaust produces a slight pop, pop noise as it burns the diesel fuel.

Anyone else any ideas ?

Given the current UK weather conditions I agree it is most likely to be the Webasto Diesel powered coolant heater. Location and description match the most likely source. Need a bit more info from the OP to determine what type of 'X' it is on, how long it lasts, and any other symptoms.
