Tail Lamps
 

What is the differance between the 00-03 tail lamps and the 04+ tail lamps? I've looked at them both and don't see a differance!! :dunno:

The 04s seem to be more clear...

It sure did.
For up to '03 - 63.21.8.409.009 (L) and 63.21.8.409.010 (R)
04 and 05 - 63.21.6.916.901 (L) and 63.21.6.916.902 (R)

Now the real question - are they interchangable? (in other words, can the newer ones be installed in a pre-'04 X5)

they look exactly the same to me, except that the new taillights are clear for both sport and non-sport.

I don't see any reasons why not. Just slight cosmetic differences.

Do they look differant when illimunated? If they look the same why would anyone retrofit them?
