Front blower/fan not working
In my wifes '02 3.0 the front blower/fan stopped working, the rear blower/fan is working fine. For the past year we've had an occasional "squeak" from front but is had always worked.
After reading the posts on X outpost.com I was convinced it was the "Final Stage Resistor" I was going to order the part from FCP Groton but realized there is also a "Blower Motor Resistor" and I never had any random fluctuations in the fan speed. What is the difference between the Final Stage Resistor and the Blower Motor Resistor and which should i start with?:dunno: www.fcpgroton.com/category-exec/category_id/66/nm/Climate_Control_A_C_and_Heating_/sub_top_menu_item/by_make-by_model-by_year/by_make/5/by_model/1405/by_year/52 Thanks |

I can't tell you for sure but I have not heard of the blower motor resistor being cited as the cause of problems. It seems to always be the final stage resistor.

If you were hearing the squeak it's your blower motor dying. The squeal should be more annoying at low speeds and if you increase the speed of the fan the squeal would go away. If that sounds right then, Save your money and do not buy the FSR but buy a motor and replace it. Be aware this job is not for the faint hearted. You will have to remove the whole dash. If you take it to a INDY shop expect to pay 6-8 hours labor plus parts. Do a search on blower motor and you will see my post about when I replaced mine.

Thanks for all your advice and information. I changed the FSR and the blower is now working :) I haven't heard the squeak since and will keep my fingers crossed, after viewing the posts on replacing the blower...not something I would attempt
Thanks again! |
