Just purchased my first BMW X5!!
Hello All
I am a long time BMW owner and BMW DIYer, and as of last week I am now a proud owner of a 2006 X5 4.4i. I picked up a car from Texas and had it shipped to me in CT. Its a 2006, blue with tan interior, sport/premium, pano roof, basically all options with the exception of heated seats. 16k miles and clean as they come. I wanted to say thank you to all of the people in this forum. I did a ton of research on the 4.4i vs 4.8is and ultimately went with the 4.4i as I didnt want the air suspension and related problems on the 4.8is. (I do however love the look of the body kit, the larger 20s, and update interior, etc) So thank you to all!! |
congrats. you have a long life ahead with your 4.4i. My 04 4.4 is just pushing 87k miles and i know many other members with far more mileage.
by the way, if you are inclined, for a couple thousand, you can install the 4.8is body kit, buy the rims and make it look just like the real one. Post some pictures of the new ride! |
Congrats on the purchase, let the modding begin!!!!
|
Already working up a list of mods. So far top of the list is chip/intake, some new winter wheels/tires, and possibly looking into adding heated seats.
A new headunit is also towards the top of my short list. I am without factory Nav, but I paid $24,000 for an 06 4.4i with only 16k miles, so I think I got a solid buy. Also thinking of HID fog lights, or at least Mtec bulbs... |

You're in store for some great mods. The 4.8is kit is nice but a bit pricey for some. The HID fogs are an easy and nice mod for about $80. There are several write ups on this. I did mine and other than the occasional failure for one to fire up, they work great. All I do is switch them on again and they will both fire up. |

Hi Sorry, was away in Stratton skiing for the weekend. X5 Rocked in the snow by the way. Has new Michilin MXV4's and it couldnt have done any better. Was very pleased.
I am from Southwestern CT, Fairfield Country area. PM if your local, love to see that 4.8is in person. |
Congratulations CT X5 Joe, I am in Southern Fairfield as well. Did we ever have a local meet?
|
Don't think so. This is my first X5, so no meets for me. Previous cars included 1998 E36 M3 w/ AA turbo, 2001 Audi S4, 2002 E46 M3, and 2001 Mercedes ML 55 AMG, but I didnt go to any meets for those either.
