Short Shift Kit install diy
 

Hello, I'm hoping someone can point me to a good DIY thread on how to remove, and install a short shift "kit". It's an OEM shift lever, but just shorter than what is on currently.

My car is a 2003 X5 3.0 Sport - Manual Trans.

I think a Z3 shifter would shorten the throw considerably, but would add a bit of effort. I am curious to try a weighted ZHP shift knob soon. It is shorter than the stock knob, and the wieght should improve the feel. Mine is broken anyway.
Let me know what you find out.

i have the zhp weighted knob on currently, just haven't replaced the shift lever as of yet. Still looking for diy instructions, so if anyone has done this on an X5, or a similar bimmer, i'd appreciate it...
