Peake code 2796 - 'check at lower stop'

Anyone have an idea what this code means? This comes up on a somewhat regular basis now (triggers the check engine light). Thanks in advance.

Code P2796 is your Auxiliary Transmission Fluid Pump Control Circuit/Open.

If that isn't a p-code then it wouldn't be for anything tranny fluid pump etc. Only judging from the check at lower stop description I'd guess it may be related to the valvetronic system. May be worth having the BMW specific fault codes pulled by GT1 equipped indy or dealer.

Hello:

I know it's an old thread, but hopefully, someone will look at it and reply.

Did you ever find out what the issue was and resolved it? I am getting the same code and would like to know the issue is and how it can be resolved.

Thanks,

That doesn't look like a Peake code to moi. You generally get a reference to a table, then a letter/number combo. For example, my bad secondary air pump valve threw table 19, F5, F6, and my bad O2 sensor was table 19, then 3d [as best I recall]. The Peake codes table is readily available online.

Here is a link to the Peake tables: http://www.peakeresearch.com/manuals...201.0%20NA.pdf

Table 20 shows 2756, electronic throttle controller, adaption wrong .....

Riggodeaux 02-12-2015 06:10 PM

correction, 2796, not 2756. I'm not sure what this means, tho ....

Remove the rubber boot to the throttle body and check to see if maybe there is something jamming the throttle plate.

Thanks,

A trip down memory lane! This code eventually stopped appearing, I subsequently sold the E53, and that solved the matter permanently!

Just a note that I was looking at table 22 in the peake book; maybe I had the wrong code to begin with. Good luck!
