DSC on...spinning out.

Hey guys,

I live in colorado and we finally had our first big snow storm since I bought my 02 X5. I took the X5 around a turn and accelerated and I spun out. I was under the impression that the DSC should keep my x5 from spinning out. Is this common? Thanks!

I was under the impression that DSC prevents skidding but not spinning out--the ASC is what prevents spinning out/slipping.

Accelerating at the beginning of a turn makes mine spin out too (it's the only time I can make it slide), but if I coast into a turn and then accelerate out of the turn, it's solid as can be. I also have a 4x4 Explorer and the X is way more stable than the Explorer in 4high.

Dynamic Stability Control can only go far, and you have to respect the laws of physics. If you drive beyond the limits of your tires and conditions you can get in trouble, as you found out.

Truth.

Driver assistant systems can only help you if your tires have traction.

:iagree:

Those are virtually the exact words stated in the manual to my E46 M3 I had a couple of years back, which was the first time I had encountered DSC.
