04 3.0i Low Beam replacement...
Hello all... I was getting a low beam error so I went into AutoZone to get the headlight. I ended up with an H7 replacement bulb. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to replace it, so after some googleing I am afraid I might have got the wrong bulb. Seems like I might have a xenon or something.
Question 1) Do I have an H7, or is this completely incorrect. 2) How the heck do I replace the thing? Thanks everyone |
another question... do you have xenon... are your lights white or yellow?
|
Deinately a whitish color. What does this tell you?

Xenon

cool thanks... is it an H7 Xenon? Any "how tos" how switching this out? HAHA, the manual says to bring to dealership to avoid injury or death! LOL
EDIT: Think I found the correct one. D2S HID. Sound right? Here is a pic of the head lamp from the little hole on the housing... anyone confirm from this that I have Xenons? http://gallery.me.com/andy_sousa/100...12952120210001 |
finally got my replacement xenons in. Can anyone tell me how to remove the headlight. I have read that it is only the 4 screws in the back... but in some cases I have read I need to remove the bumper. It is as easy as the 4 screws? It is the drivers side on an 04 3.0

ok... got it out. Literally took 30 mins. Way overrated on how much work it is. 4 torx screws, removed the air box on drivers side just for the room. Got the 6k bulbs on ebay for $15. Saved a ton of dough. Just thought I would update the thread in case anyone else searches.
Thanks |

I need to replace low beam bulb on passenger side of 2004 X5 3.0i. In the Owner's Manual on page 159 they specify H7 bulb 55 watts. I bought 2, just in case. The procedure described in the Manual is: "1. Remove the cover 2. Turn the bulb holder to the left and remove 3. Pull bulb out of bulb holder by base and replace" It looks deceptively simple. How difficult is it to remove the cover? I noticed 4 screws that attach the back plastic cover, 2 of which are more difficult to reach. Probably wise to disconnect one battery lead. Anything else important ? Thanks, norman. |
