Sorry, Cold start Strikes again!

Sorry guys,

I've been reading almost every relating cold starts and CCV valve issues. I have rough start as well, followed by Rough running when in gear on cold! Then SES Light turnes on and some unburn fuel smell comes out of the exhaust. Really noticable. However the SES light goes out after 10-15miles of driving. Any Ideas? Could it be notorious CCV? (Also I get O2 sensor messages) I have them orderd. As for Cat itself: Indy has told me that they are ok.

Whoops sorry, I forgot. 00 X5 4.4l m62

Just read it. I have alrady cleaned Throttle and MAF, although I havn't replaced O ring or the gasket.

alromcc 01-24-2011 03:28 PM

On mine the main suspected problem was the gasket. When removed, it was already shrunked compared to the new one i bought. make sure that the groove for the gasket and o-ring be cleaned when placing the new ones.

Got it! Will resume with that. thanks alot guys.

Gave it little gas and turned it off. re-started it and no light.:/ weird. Also can anyone Throw links of Gaskets + O rings + anything I will need? truely Sorry don't know their names. and should Same gasket on the back part be changed as well?

I have just ordered those gaskets (front and back one) and been thinking hardly maybe change Intake Manifold Cover (PVC) as well?
Also I have tried it again to take of MAF sensor off and then cold start it. seems to be alot better this way. Is there any way to get sensor repaired or new one is the only possible solution?

alromcc 01-29-2011 06:21 PM

I would suggest for you to replace your front gasket first before jumping to other parts.

Also check the small hose attached to the bottom part of the flange (part#12). Place a clamp or cable tie on that location to avoid possibility of leakage. just be carefull not to break it.

Good luck:thumbup:
