Saw this on Craigslist:bustingup. 2000 BMW X5 TURBO

The ad says ,"This car is fast..very fast...beefy engine...twin turbo"....
What about the bhp/Nms and who did the conversion :)

There's no way that X5 is twin turbo let alone single turbo. I sent him a message. I'll be curious to see if he removes his ad.

I'd say definitely a scam. Who in their right mind would be selling a custom turbo'd E53 for around the normal going price and NOT take any pictures of the custom turbo setup? No HP numbers or track times? Some people fall for anything and this guy is trying to get a deposit out of somebody then disappear as quick as possible.

Anyways, so I called and texted this guy...not inquiring about purchasing this dirty little gem, but more about the reported twin turbo setup. Now unless it's an STS style setup, there is physically no way to fit twin turbo's in there...I've seen a single turbo done in a 540, and all kinds of things had to be moved around to make room.

I didnt really find it funny especially to post on a forum. I joke alot and I am sure I could think of a ton of things to say but I never post that shit.

I remember reading that ads such as this are scams. As Weasel indicated this is a grab your deposit and run scam or a false Escrow Broker scam where you deposit funds and wait for the vehicle to show up on a delivery truck. The vehicle never shows and the escrow company are a part of the scam.
And yes, you can bet the dirtbag is reading this board!

I was in no way trying to offend anyone. I have been accused of having a quick wit and dry sence of humor so that was all I was trying to do. I'm not offended, I just commented that I didn't think it was funny. I don't think racial comments have any place here. It is no different IMO than making some comment about the vehicle and concluding that the seller must be black, or that he is overpricing it so he must be Jewish. All are inappropriate.

I fully accept that the poster didn't mean to offend anyone. I think his most recent post is far classier than all the "grow a pair" comments.

LMAO...this thread took a turn. People are FAR too sensitive about comments, not to mention this world is become far too p*ssified w/ trying to make sure no one gets offended. Long story short, I got about 10 back and forth texts with this guy. He claims a friend created the ad, then tried to offer it to me for 10k. Once I told him what I already had in my garage, he said thanks and moved on. Since then, the ad has been deleted. Maybe he's getting off his ass and washing it before reposting...

I was talking with one of the guys in the shop and he mentioned a buddy of his who turbo'd his X5. I'm currently trying to locate this guy and his vehicle so I can take pics of it and report back to all the racist and anti-racist members of this forum. I'm kidding by the way. :nanana:

I don't think you see the point that several of us tried to make, above. It has nothing to do with turbans or turbos. It has to do with a thread where someone unknown to all of us, either an ebay scam artist or a clueless vendor (we are not sure which it was, frankly), posted an ad. Then everybody laughed at him and his ineptitude. Then somebody said maybe he is Indian. Then when some said that isn't very funny, several piled on to say that yes, it was, and we should have more of it here.

In the context of a fool posting an ad on ebay, what could be funny about associating his ad or his ineptitude with his ethnicity? The poster who made the comment apologized, didn't mean anything by it, and we have moved on. But several of you continue to post that it really is funny. Pretty sad IMO.

I tried hard not to respond to this crap, but I am so sick of everyone claiming "racism" everytime someone mentions something about a different race. What in the hell was racist about that comment??? Should I be offended and screamed racism if he had said, "Maybe he is white and meant twin baseball caps"??
