X3 towbar on an X5 E53
 

Hi peeps, was just wondering if it is at all possible to install an X3 towbar on a 2004 E53, the X3 towbar is the oem detachable one, i can get one at a scrapyard(wreckers yard) for a good price, will it be a waste of time and money or can it be slightly modified to fit? the towbar is complete with all fittings and accessories. please help if somebody has tried this, thanx in advance :thumbup:...........

Not a good thing to do. Attachments points are different, floorpan is different, towing capacity is different, maximum loads and chassis stresses catered for are different.

Basically this would in my view be a waste of time, and potentially dangerous. Towbars are usually specific in their vehicle application and should never be messed about with.

wow, i never really considered all the factors then, i just assumed with a little modification, i could have made it fit, i guess i was wrong then. thank you :(
