It was actually on the freeway. Vehicle came up at a high rate of speed and tried to pass me on the right (I was in the middle lane) I thought they spun out, but they ended up taking off instead.

I'm completely jealous - of the hitch, not the hit and run. Out of curiosity, what is the car the hitch is photographed next to? E9x M3? Looks super familiar.

➀ DISA valve: has a very soft plastic bearing part that will wear until it snaps
➁ brake/tail lights have a design flaw where high resistance causes heat and self-destructs. You can repair vs replace
➂ see if FSR still original fat post or replaced thin post.
➃ use live read from OBD port to check coolant temp. My x5 never got to full operating temp for months and I wasn't aware until winter came along and I couldn't get cabin heat. (Because the temp gauge lies: basically useless)
➄ if in cold climate learn to never yank a "seemingly frozen" door you'll break the handle that is stuck locked use a different door of a handle sticks.

Enjoy the x5 best car ever.

No DISA valve on V8. I would address 2-4 if they become a problem.

Yes sir, e92 ;)

Hitch will be for sale locally

Suggest you add year and model of your X5 to your signature, is very useful to others.

See OP post following yours on DISA valve. E92 does halve a DISA valve but is not a V8. OP engine is a V8.

Damn man, that sucks about getting hit. I don't think the damage is too bad.

If they replace the whole bumper including spoiler get the old one back and I'll buy the bottom spoiler off you.

Also, I have a spare set of stock taillights with the clear turn signals that you can have if you end up needing them.

Body shop quoted 5800 to repair. Insurance adjuster coming out next to assess. Some damage to th QP. Really hoping adjuster will be friendly and will take care of me. Seems like they only like taking my money and are hesitant giving it back.

I'll keep you posted about the spoiler

Nice. Our fleets are way too similar. Wanna PM me on the hitch? In Issaquah and interested.

What is the fsr?

I agree about the gauge. Im running a 90c thermostat and my operating temperature stays at 87c yet the needle stays past the halfway mark
