Pulled the dash out to replace the blower motor. The brushes are toast and theres a deep 4-5mm groove worn into the commutator. Did the ignition switch too, as access is easy.

Anything else I should be looking to address while I have it apart?

WOW! :wow:

Talk about deep dives!

At how many miles were the brushes so worn?

Thanks,

Mike

Nice work! Have the dash wrapped in leather by a competent upholstery shop. ;)

The upgrade in luxury feel is immense. That's my plan should I ever have to take out my dash. The wife's E70 is nappa leather wrapped on the dash/cluster pod and it is just so nice, I must have it.

Do everything possible on replacement to avoid squeaks! Maybe clean all the rubber seals with window cleaner to give them a fresh "bite" so they won't slip and squeak.

Clean and lubricate the telescopic steering column gear racks. They become slow and squeaky at about 250,000 miles :D
