Is something missing?
 

Hello,
I've just been having a good look round my recently acquired 3.0i and noticed that in the spare tyre area under the cargo panel I have two spaces with nothing in them.
Is something missing in the area circled in the shot below?
I've checked the net and can't find any decent boot pics to compare.
Can anyone enlighten me?

Mine is like that as well.

we only have one thing there, the second ball for the towing kit. It sits in the spot right above the metal clip for the floor, the diagonal looking spot. On ours it doesn't look like there's a second spot for anything else though.

I have, when not used, the nr. 2 unit there.
