KNOWN COLD START ISSUE: OIL HEATER PAD?

Do you think if I install an oil pan heater pad this would take care of the issue?

If you are referring to the freezing up of the crankcase ventilation valve (CCV), then not directly. You would need to drive the vehicle longer once it is warm, to boil off the condensation that collects. An engine heater isn't going to get rid of the condensation, but if you are always doing very short trips, then starting off somewhat warm can help. The real solution is to keep an eye on the CCV, and clean it out periodically if there are signs of the condensate building up under the oil filler cap.

Has anyone ever had any experience with this product or one comparable to it?

I want to do what ever I can to prepare the X for the impending doom that will hit Alberta probably mid october and won't officially end till mid May.

The Godfather, neat idea. I was looking into something as well, and found suck things as a dipstick heater and magnetic header. But this looks nicest, but I wonder about its heating....

theGodfather, FYI, there are engine heater pads on Amazon from $15-$26, depending on what size you need. I'm gonna measure the engine oil pan tomorrow and then order from amazon. why not, since its 75% cheaper!!
