E-Brake not working?

I drive an '03 x5 3.0i and I was driving at about 10-15mph when I pulled my e brake (some snow fun). It didn't work and the classical BMW sound happened. The one that beeps when you don't put your seat-belt on or when somethings wrong. I didn't pay much attention to the sound but later on a hill I pulled my e-brake and the car kept rolling back. With no ice the brake was not working. Do you think the brake is broken or could the car have disabled the brake when I pulled it on snow? as a safety precaution?

Has anyone have this happen to them?

Thanks

**Sorry guys but by "E-Brake" and "Emergency Brake" I mean the Hand Break. Did a search and some people had problems with that term :)

Re-adjust your E-brake. I bet either they're loose or all cracked. Mine were all cracked and loose because I forgot to release it too many time when I drive.

Heh, I keep doing this. I'm not used to having a big torquey engine, it pulls away almost the same with or without the handbrake on :)

Remove Rear Wheels and there are Parking brake legs. If you want more specific try searching :) Nothing major.
