Do sport package 4.4 = lowered suspension?
 

I know the 4.8 sits lower, maybe the 4.6 also, but is the sport package 4.4 suspension the same height as a non-sport.

I read that they are stiffer, but don't know if they are also lower.

For the stiffness, is it noticable on bad roads. I have race springs on my E46 and it's not fun anymore. I want my future X5 to be comfortable.

Nobody drove a sport and non sport and could give some feedback :dunno:
Height difference, stiffness difference...

Comfort is relative and subjective...suggest you drive both and see what matters for you.

Tires also make a difference - I noticed a big difference switching from the 19" Mich Diamaris to 19" Hankook A/S.

I drove both...but not on the same roads. I'm rollin' a 4.4 sport and it can get stiff, but it's tolerable...and I'm truly driving on urban roads. Most suburban and or hwy roads will be nice regardless of the suspension.

I liked the sport steering wheel/seats over the non sports too.

I previously looked at a couple of threads, but wanted to see if no other 'new' X5 owners, who recently road tested them could add more. It's true that it is subjective. I'll have to drive one like you said.

I think I saw only one comment about the height. It is reported to be a bit lower, but only for the facelift models. I would have liked to have a bit more info on this one.

I look in the ETK for the difference between springs, but they don't list part # for springs (they refer to the spring catalog which I don't have).

In my opinion my 2001 X5 with the sport package hanldes just as well as my E36 M3

turbo, i've never driven anything but sport package bimmers. however, i will say that they can be rather harsh at times especially when you are the only occupant. if you load them up with passengers or gear, it smoothes the ride out nicely. on the flip side, they handle like a car half their size and provide you with the feeling and competence that keeps us coming back to the marque every time we need a new car.

I know this is all pretty subjective stuff but I find that extremely hard to believe. Is your X5 stock or did you make some mods?

Sport package 4.4 is firmer but not lower.
