2001 Diesel E53 diesel fumes due to leak
 

Hi all

I hope you are all OK. I need help from your experienced minds please.
I have a 2001 diesel E53 that suddenly started to pass diesel fumes into the interior right after I took it to a mechanic to change the fan belt.
I gave the engine a jet wash to see where the leakage was coming from and can now see a thin film starting from the front of the plastic cover just above the injectors heading to the back of the engine and some diesel around hood vents. I took it back to the mechanic and he says he has to change all the fuel return rubber pipes that sit along the injectors as they may have developed a hole. Has anyone experienced a similar issue at all? I am a bit suspicious of the impending work "required" to fix the issue as it involved dismantling the top and probably messing with the injector valves etc. the car does not have any starting problems, revs fine but only got a bit thirstier.:rolleyes:
