CD changer / Mp3 player / iphone
Hello everyone, i am new to this forum, i just bought my first bmw x5 2 days ago, and i love it! Its a 2006 3.0 black on black with navi. The car has an iphone wire sticking out of the glove box, when i connect it and try to play music, it works but the driver door speaker doesn't work. When the radio is on all speakers work fine. Any idea why that might be?
My main question is: which CD changer or mp3 player should i get? My car doesn't have any CD changer so i can't play any cds. I was wondering what should i get and whats my best option? Or maybe should i just get a new/other iphone/ipod connector or w.e its called.. I owned 4 audis in the past, and ive had the phatbox is 2 of them, which was very convenient because i could just take the cartridge home and burn the music i want. My last audi had a navi with SD cards so that was even easier. I don't have the premium sound system, how hard is it to install the premium sound? Thank you in advance! |
Hi, congrats to your new X.
Where do you connect your iPhone? To the dock connector or to the one where your headphones are normally in? Regards, Helmuth |
The connector on the iPhone is a stereo connector. It feeds left and right through the base on it's own pin set. I have duplicated the same effect of only having one speaker output by not seating the connector well when I plug it in to the ipod adapter. Look at the connector for foreign objects, lint, whatever and also make sure it plugs in evenly and seats well on both sides. It sounds like something you don't even have to fix by replacing, just find the culprit and make the adjustment.

|
Are you sure that you don't already have somthing like a DICE installed?
Any chance to follow that cable? |

Is your Silverline a trunk interface or radio? |

the dice unit is a small black box maybe 3x3x1. says dice on it. it plugs in where your cd changer is. the cable is long enough to run it anywhere up front so you can plug and unplug your ipod/iphone from it. i just left it in the back compartment. i bought a used ipod on ebay for $30. i only take it out to add music. works great. i want the mediabridge to use the bluetooth to listen to sirius off my iphone.;)
look in the nav unit/ cd changer area (rear driver side) see if you have the dice in there |
The newer ones are located in the front near the radio.
Best chance to find something is to follow the cable where you connect your iPod. But that may be tricky. Different question: When you connect your iPod ... do you have to switch to CD-Changer to operate it? Do you see the titles on your radio display? |
i have navigation. yes the ipod is in the cd's place. i see the title and the artist yes. you can search by artist, playlist, ect just like on the ipod. it really works great. if it helps in your search the cable has a black cloth covering. if you have the dice, it also says dice on the display.

Will the DICE unit work on non-ipod products like a Droid X?
|
no it has an apple plug. i paid $190 from dice. they sell on ebay for $160-180. i'd let it go for $80 shipped. what i did was buy a used ipod on ebay for $30. the guy even copied 900+ songs on it to dvd so i could reload the ones i liked once i re-registered the ipod in my name. now i just leave that ipod in the car connected. ive disconnected it twice to add songs. it really works great, steering wheel controls work. shows song and artist on nav screen. can shuffle by artist, song, playlist or just play the whole list. takes 20 mins to install. (18 to disconnect battery, 2 to plug in).

virus... does it say dice on the screen?
|
it plugs into where you charge/add songs on apple products. so it wont work on anything else
