What's the AV in/out for?
Hi guys - I want to output the sound from an MP3 player into my X5's sound system. I found these sockets (pictured below) in the rear of the console between the front seats. I assume the input socket here should allow me to connect or am I mistaken? Cheers Simon

I guess these are for vedio game console connections.

It's the audio visual input for the tv
you can input a dvd player or a playstation etc. On the tv you select the av station and what ever you input will be on the screen. However it will only show while your stopped and the sound is in mono. The AV out can hook up to external monitors and this output does not switch off while the x is in motion.
The cable I use is a camcorder cable with a 3.5mm jack plug which has the yellow (video) red and white (audio right and left) ends on it. you could connect an mp3 player to it but the sound wouldn't be the best and it's done via the tv menu. Hope this helps. Mark. |
I have the right AV cable as you mentioned
connected to a portable DVD but the picture flickering on the screen anyone please help! |
There are other threads about this subject. It seems a pain in the *** to get decent sound from any dvd/mp3 player into the AV slot. Sometimes the screen keeps on displaying 'mute' all the time and no sound is heard. I have experimented with this AV slot couple of weeks ago (along with a direct cable into the OEM TV module in the trunk), and was not able to get sound into the system, so I gave up ...

I just tried the same yesterday and I have faced the same problem.
To overcome this problem u need to adjust the setting of the color system for A/V channel on the TV. It has a special setting different from other TV channels. I had the default setting on PAL while I was playing NTSC DVD so it used to so this flicking issue. Once u adjust the color system it will work great. As for the TV in motion, u need NAV code & IBUS card which will be my next step. |
