About to buy this 528i. What do you think?
Ok, im going to go look at this tonight......
1999 Bmw 528i Anything I should look for? Thanks for all your help! |
Looks like it may have been beat up. Check the paint for overspray (if its been repainted). ask for service records, i would definitely think that the shocks are shot, especially with those size wheels on them. Get the VIN and do a carfax too...

jordo, that car looks pretty beat. to start, it isn't a sport package, the mileage is high without documented maintenance and it is the cheapest e39 ever made. i would keep looking or convince the guy to give you the old wheels and drop the price to $3500. most likely it will need front suspension work, VC gasket, VANOS seals and other vitals.

IMO, I wouldn't even bother with a car like that.. To me, it looks like one of those "ghetto-fabulous" cars modded with whatever money they have and nothing set aside for maintenance. Again, just my opinion. You should take a good look at it before you buy it and/or looked over by a mechanic.
good luck! |
After I looked it over and test drove it.... I ended up passing on it. The front end was loose over small stutter bumps, I felt the trany slip, even tho it only happend once, and there were more issues then the dude told me about.
He did tell me that the window regulator was broken... But when I went there, the window was missing all together! There was plenty of actual dents that he didn't mention... And the biggest deal breaker for me was, he told me that his dad buys and sells cars at the auction. (to me that made me wonder.... If they knew it had issues) And you guys are right, over all it seemed like the owners spent plenty of money for wax, but none on maintenance. Thanks for the helps, friends. |
