Hi all,
Just wondering what the best HID kit for my 2005 E53 X5 is at the moment? After something that if basically plug'n'play and doesn't cost the earth. Don't want any crappy Chinese rubbish that will blow up in a month or burn my car out! Thanks :D |

Did a lot of research. I ended up buying one of the Chinese kits for my fogs and basically threw $60 in the garbage. These guys are a class act and build extremely quality products. |
Thanks :-)

Make sure you hook it up correctly. Meaning, power must be pulled directly from the battery. Do not rely on stock wiring to handle the extra power demand for the hid system.

They should use the same amount of power but produce more light. Ive never heard of anyone using anything other than stock wiring. That is meant to be the beauty of a HID upgrade. But just working out which product is the best that hard work

totally disagree. the voltage it takes to ignite the salts/gases in the hid bulb is around 25K hence the need for ballasts. that's a lot more than the stock halogen could ever consider needing. with that said, once the salts and gases are ignited, the power backs off considerably and becomes more efficient than halogen. the stock wire gauge is too small to handle the initial demand and needs to be supplemented. the only stock wire that is used is for the switch to turn on the lights.

Isn't that the purpose of the ballast to create the high voltage from 12V?
