Horrible electrical sound. Thoughts?

Hi guys,

Check out the link to the video.

Horrible Noise

At around the 53 second mark you will hear an awful noise. It is much worse in real life :(

It is hit and miss on when it decides to happen, however generally it is when it is warmer, 30'c + (86'f +) and after I have driven the car for approximately an hour.

My thoughts are it has something to do with the alternator, as it starts fairly quietly and then builds up. It is a similar noise to an older car that needs a suppressor put on its alternator.

Your help would be appreciated. It is a hard one to get an auto elec to look at as it is hit and miss.

Cheers.

Brett

Is the sound coming through the speakers?

Yeah mate it is. Doesn't matter if the radio is on or off, if the CD changer is running or anything. Just does it whenever it likes.

Check the amp area in the rear for any signs of water leaks... left rear panel with regular CD player radio, by the battery with NAV. I'm saying this because I've seen them do this when the amp gets wet and the connectors get corroded.

Try to pull the radio module switch. Do you hear the sound?

Something is touching a cable I think. Check rear of truck left side and see.if anything is touching or wet or just weird. Maybe even under spare tire wire radio stuff is like a bump in road loosens up a wire maybe

sorry for the delay guys. yeah there seems to be some corrosion on the amp and its connectors. thoughts on how to clean the pins coming out of the amp and also the plug itself?

my thoughts are this- during the heat the pins expand and with the corrosion within the plug, causes a semi short somehow.

Now thats its winter here, I dont have to hear it, such a good thing. Im heading away for a while so will get on to it when i return.

I had the same issue last week, it was caused by water getting in, I sprayed it with an electrical moisture remover and degreaser and now it's back to normal.
