hid ballast mounting location
Hi all, first post here. Did a bunch of research on the site, which helped me get my hids with depos installed successfully (and as economically as possible). Thanks to all the previous posters. Now that I've got everything wired and working, I'm looking for the ideal place to mount the hid ballasts. I'd like to protect the ballasts from the elements, especially rain. Anyone have any good ideas?
Also, the aftermarket ballasts i purchased did not come with rubber caps to prevent condensation in the headlamp. Anyone know where i can purchase these? I'm using duct tape and sealing it the ends with zip ties as a temporary solution. Phil |
the ballasts can be put anywhere there is a flat surface (assuming you received double-sided tape with the kit).

Thank you for the fast reply. hopefully the aftermarket ballasts I purchased will fit in that Oem spot.
Any ideas on where to get the rubber caps shown in above picture? I would like to protect the headlamp assembly from moisture and dust Phil |

Unfortunately the rubber cap comes together with the oem ballasts! A DIY suggestion for the rubber caps, would be for you to get some small universal CV BOOTS and cut them to size. |
just an update, the ballasts i purchased fit perfectly in the oem location! thanks for the suggestion. i chose to wrap the edges of the ballasts with electrical tape as an extra measure to prevent water.
as for the rubber caps, i ended up keeping the duct tape and zip tying the ends to create a better seal. ill keep an eye out for a better solution. now its time to wire the angel eyes :D |
