It's recommended to drive the car minimally, but you can do it. If it were me I wouldn't drive it at all without the module in.

I get an intermittent "trifecta" of yellow abs, dsc, and brake lights which I assume is a module needing repair, for the low cost of 92 bucks nowadays its almost good to get it done for preventative maintenance.

I'm starting to get the "trifecta" again only this time my speedometer isn't working so it's definitely rebuild time. $89 isn't bad at all considering that also includes shipping to there and back.

its definitely good practice with these modules after a certain time to have them rebuilt periodically so they don't get messed up beyond repair, for 90 bucks well worth it.

I had a random "trifecta" yesterday after not seeing one for months, my speedometer works fine however, just the lights pop on usually at highway speed then stay on for a key cycle or two and go away.


However if your speedometer doesn't work couldn't it also be potentially one of the rear wheel sensors? One of them controls the speedo operation I thought.

At the risk of no ine responding because this thread is so old, i believe my module and or the sensor has gone out. For a while i had the brake, abs and dsc light on it also made the dreaded susp inact light come on. Speedo worked fine. Recently the cAr sat for a few weeks with a bad fuel relay and now the speedo is no longer working along with the odometer as well. Let me know what you think. Do i just rebuild the module? Or start with the sensor on the driver side rear wheel?

In some cases the ABS module is not rebuild-able. When yo send it in they will let you know.

My 2001 X5 4.4 has the trifecta of lights on about half of the time with the speedo inop as well. I switched the rear wheel speed sensors thinking I might be able to eliminate one of them and it made no difference. ABS module?
