Dash/Interior Lights Flashing ~ Disco Show

At night when lights are on; interior illumination (switches, etc.) and the dash lights are flashing/blinking like a strobe light. They do not as long as the dimmer is turned down. I have removed the light switch, still no change.

Any ideas?

Im sure its another $1,000 fix at stealer, it seems that is the starting default repair bill. :D

Thanks

Sounds like a capacitor somewhere in the electronics. Maybe Weasel has dealt with it and knows. If you pump up the current and the S*T hits the fan the capacitors are usually leaking or dry and can't keep up. I know I read him say earlier in another post everything in this truck is pulsed and if it is trying to with a bad capacitor it would strobe like that. I just don't know what components are in line. He should though.

Could be bad voltage regulator .

Fuse #73 - Flashing Dash Lights

Does anyone know which module would control the interior lights?

Problem started when Fuse 73 (7.5 amp) would blow (radio would not display clock unless powered on nor would the radio would turn off when key was removed). It would go months between, now it blows immediately.

I have removed the tele/assist module, mid, and radio, and headlight switch to no avail.

I have all BMW disc/EBA/TIS/Service Data/Wiring Diagram(not working), and parts catalogue . . . just cant find wiring diagram.

Again, thanks for all the help. I purchased this 2004 3.0 new 08/04. Great car but thanks to stealer and me wanting to maintain I have spent over $10,000 in maintenance and repairs. I plan to post all repairs and at what milage on here for others to reference. Its my daily driver turning 150,000 miles this week.

Any other thoughts or ideas on what to remove or test before bitting the bullet and taking it to the stealer!

Some time the problem like your ( me or every one else have not have or experiments it yet.)

The best i can do for you is get your car diagnose..Get the code read...

light check module under the rear seats, i had the same problem, then i lost all interior lights and my dash lights. not too bad from dealers, they have to code it to the car anyway.

Hi there, I remember you asked me if i had my problem fixed. Well I was only able to fix the part of the problem. The part where my radio fuse was blowing. There was a wire in the back that was coming out of the plug ( i think it was purple and white), so i cut that wire, and that helped with radio problems. However for a year i a have been keeping my dimmers at the lowest so it will not flash. I am guessing there is a short somewhere behind the dashes, whatever it is it's connected with gr/rt (grey and red) wire that's coming out of the light module and going to light switch, and i think it might bounce back to instrument clusters plug (X16) pin8. I will let you know my findings. But if you solve this problem before me let me know.
