help - correct CV boot for '04 4.4?

1 Attachment(s)
I need to order a new outer driver's side CV boot for my '04 4.4

Realoem shows there are two types of boot kits depending on axle style. I don't have access to the vehicle now, but want to order the OEM boot kit.

Can anyone tell me which style on 04 4.4 will have? Or do I have to wait and check the axle to be sure.

Thanks!

I think "B" 05 Repair kit 31607565316 fits more x5 4.4 manufacture dates.

I cross ref- parts and A is the kit you need. B looks like the output shaft widens and had a knurl cut across it. If you look on autohauz az they have the A part number only.

Actually looked at my invoice from autohausaz and I got kit a. I have a 01 4.4i

That's very helpful, thanks!

•*Did you do the inner boot as well? Do you recall which inner boot went with outer boot style A?

•*How did you find the quality of the Autohauz boot? How long has it been holding up so far? (I see they are showing EMPI now, which can be known for widely varying quality, usually chinese products)

•*Did you use the "shortcut" 30 minute method discussed in this thread?

Thanks again!

No I didn't do the inner, my inner was ok. You know come to think of it. Call your dealer and give them your VIN. The diagram on my TIS doesn't specify. They will be able to tell you and double check the outter part number. As for autohauzAZ.com, I didn't get an EMPI part, I got a OEM BMW part. It just came in a brown cardboard box, stamped with bmw on it and taped with BMW Group tape. So it was an original part. But I've had the part on there for 3 years now? Its been over 25k miles and no problems. kit cam with the moly grease pack, 2 collar bands and the boot.
And no I didn't use the 30 min procedure. I used the 3 hour, much cursing, a lot of hammering, sweat my ba**s off procedure.
