New E53 Owner

I always liked the X5 but did not want to get auto tranny, so it took a long time for me to find one that is in mint condition, manual black interio only and of course a good deal. So my mechanic calls me and tells me he has one in his shop from one of his customer who wants to sell it and its MANUAL. He did the PPI on it and said the car has no leaks anywhere, bushing and all mounts are good, cooling system still good but failed AC compressor. So i worked out a deal with this guy and bought it that day. Installed AC compressor did regular tune up and drove it home. I LOVE ITTTTT. I am planning to keep this one for a longgg time. 200k Miles here i come :)

Anyways i love the forum looks like a cool crowd and lots of good info.

2002 X5 with 99k on the clock. Silver with black interior.

Will upload pics today

Congrats on finding a manual, and welcome to the Board!
There are only a handful of us here with the 5 spd.

You will find the highway cruising rpms to be considerable,
but the trans is fun, imo.

PS: nice sled, too!

Thanks for the welcome guys, Yeah the forum is great here. I am acutally looking into towing package now. Upgrade headlights and thats about it for now. I dont know why people complain about the OEM sound system but it sounds great to me. So i wont upgrade there

Down the road do need bigger wheels OEM though.

Yes I love the 5 Speed amazing

congrats and welcome to the titanium on black manual transmission club. Just a heads up, it may not be your experience but keep an eye on your oil level. I have never seen an oil light come on in 3 years of ownership but I've emptied at least two cases of oil because I've had to add oil in between oil change intervals (poss due to the high highway rpms)

Did not know that, thank you sir. Usually once a week when i wash it i kinda open the hood and check for anything unusual, but i will def keep an eye on that.

Whats the deal with the manual? Wonder why they are sooo rare. Is it somthing that was only offered in other parts of the world, and they were shipped here? If it was just an option you would think we would see more of them.

Congrats with your new whip!

In My opinion Manual transmission is always better then AUTO more reliable, more fun, cheaper to maintain. I think X5 in the US Manual Tranny is RAREEE.. In Europe where i am from its mostly Manual

motordavid 03-21-2011 03:18 PM

Very rare here, esp since some of the few hundred/few thousand they made in the E53 are biting the dust every week. I was envious of the later 6speed...

And, both were only offered on the 3.0, when everyone was chasing, (still are), the V8.

Even the new X3, and probably the X1, will be automatics here in the Biff&Buffy US...
