Can your Battery Light stay on also if your Battery is not good or it only shows when your alternator is not good (BMW X5 4.4 2001)?

It can indicate a charging problem or a battery problem.

Thanks JCL, tomorrow I am going to buy a brand new Battery to see if the battery is the problem that I am having

My Battery Light is on after a Boost from the front terminal. I put a new Battery and a new alternator but the battery is still on. The car start fine and run fine. Please I need help

Get the charging system checked. It is cheaper to get it diagnosed properly than to continue replacing components.

The vehicle charging system, including alternator output. A qualified shop will know what to check.

You can actually go to autozone, and have them check the alternator, starter, and battery. Just did it the other day... Big help in narrowing down problems. I dont think they will charge u either, they didnt charge me :thumbup:

Does checking it with a multi meter give worthy information? I am getting a dim battery light some times brighter. I am getting 12.1 with car off 14.1 with engine running. Alternator is Bosch from Pep boys about a year old. Battery is about 2 1/2 years old
