I'm excited to hear how this turns out! I once posed the same question on a porsche board for a 914 and was encouraged by others to wing it and it worked out great. Since then I have done at least 10 brake/rotors jobs on various cars including the X and have received incredible support (thanks jcl).

My wife would not let me touch her X5. I had to pay an indy $350usd for all 4 with ECS Akebono kit and fluid flush. Still a little over $800 for all 4 do be done is better than the dealer doing it. I am going to do my Maxima next month. 4 years of high school auto shop is wasted
